Welcome

Keith Belli, Professor and Head

Nestled in the shadows of the Great Smoky Mountains, our University is located in an ideal setting for your study in natural resources, forestry, recreation, wildlife, fisheries, forest products, and the environment. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as a premier university research, teaching and outreach department focusing on the natural resource disciplines.  As the flagship natural resource program in Tennessee, we will be known for our leadership, and our ability to address the needs of the state, the region and beyond. Our mission is to advance the science and sustainable management of natural resources to promote their health, utilization, and appreciation in Tennessee, the region and beyond through programs in teaching, research and extension.

We invite you to review our programs and to consider becoming  part of our team. Our curricula are focused on a mastery learning approach, emphasizing practical,  hands-on experiences in the field of study. For example, both our undergraduate Forestry and Wildlife and Fisheries Science degrees include an intensive fall camp program that tend to be the highlight of our students’ academic experience.

Again, welcome. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information, or to arrange a campus visit.

Again, welcome. We hope to see you around campus!
